Hello readers!
My name is Kristy Webster and my Substack will largely consist of personal essays and poetry on topics such as: stigma of mental illness, religious trauma, and healing through writing and art making.
I am the author of The Gift of an Imaginary Girl, a collection of short stories and a novella, as well as Heretic, a collection of poetry about surviving life in a religious cult.
Hello wonderful humans!
I’m so glad you’re joining us here. Welcome to the Empathy Studio Collective, a place for healing through creativity, journal therapy, authentic connection and shared experiences of empathy in action.
My goal is to build community, through a “show & tell” of creative works and sharing experiences of empathy in action like my essay, “The Progressive Insurance Agent Who Changed My life.”
Here is some of what you will find here:
Community: a place to witness each other’s creative works and moments of authentic human connection
Personal essays and poetry: I share moments that have disturbed me, shaped me and finally brought me to where I am now
Writing prompts: choose to share or not, the hope is that it inspires you
Journal Therapy 1:1 or group sessions coming soon: a specfic, guided, tailored plan to help others find healing through therapeutic journaling
My hope is that we’ll finally find one another. Through sharing our stories, our works of art, our poems, and all forms of creative self-expression we will create not only a safe space, but an inspiring supportive, sacred place rooted in the acts of compassion and empathy for others.
I’m also looking forward to soon be offering my services as a writing coach in journal therapy. Stay tuned!
Thank you for your support!
Warmly,
Kristy
